Jacqueline Grima has been writing since she was very young, her first experience of rejection when she submitted a short story to her namesake Jackie magazine when she was in her teens.
Despite her disappointment, she never gave up. After graduating from Portsmouth Polytechnic in 1991 with a degree in Spanish Studies, Jacqueline quickly became a mum to three boys and, after she started her life as a single parent, wrote only when she could. Her efforts paid off when she had two short stories published in Acorn Magazine and her story This Old Man was shortlisted as a runner-up in a Jacqui Bennett Writer’s Bureau Competition in 2011.

As her boys got older, Jacqueline found more time to write and, in 2014, her first unpublished novel Coming Second was shortlisted for the Luke Bitmead Bursary. She has also had short stories published in The Literary Commune magazine, on the Literally Stories website and in The Cabinet of Heed. In 2019, her first domestic suspense novel was published by Manatee Books.
Jacqueline has a First Class BA in Literature which she gained from The Open University. She has also completed an MA in Creative Writing at Manchester Writing School (Manchester Metropolitan University), graduating with distinction as well as the Janet Beer prize for outstanding contribution. While studying, she worked as Student Editor-in-chief of aAh! Magazine, an online and print magazine produced by the Student Press Office of Manchester Metropolitan University, to which she contributed many articles, reviews and features.
In 2022, Jacqueline was thrilled to sign a publishing contract with HQ Stories. Her ‘utterly gripping thriller with a heartstopping twist’ THE WEEKEND ALONE is available to buy now in e-book, audiobook and paperback!
